Jio to take over the Smartphone business

Reliance Jio to launch Rs 999 and Rs 1499 4G smartphones putting everyone else out of business :

Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Jio has been touching new heights and has managed to leave all other telecom operators in the country behind. And now, looks like Jio is in the mood to take even the smartphone business.

While Reliance did manufacture and sell smartphones under their LYF brand, the smartphones were mid-range and budget devices. However, recent reports suggest that Reliance Jio might be looking to take over the entry level segment and launch the cheapest 4G smartphone to date. Since the launch of Reliance Jio, 4G services in the country have picked pace as people have shifted from their traditional connections to LTE. Also, with Reliance Jio offering free calling, messaging and data, other telecom operators have been forced to slash rates and thus, the users are now spoilt for choice. But then, for the budget lovers, there have been limited options in the 4G space.

But looks like all that is about to change with Reliance launching a sub Rs 1500 4G LTE smartphone under their LYF brand. While initially, there were rumours that Reliance will soon launch a Jio LYF smartphone for Rs 1000, there were no updates and it was relegated to just another news. However, looks like it is not only a Rs 1000 device, Reliance also seems to have another cheap smartphone on the cards.

According to latest reports, Reliance Jio will soon launch 2 super-cheap entry level smartphones, one priced at just Rs 999 and the other priced at Rs 1499. The smartphones launched under the Reliance Jio brand will come with all the features of a standard smartphone and will not skimp in any manner on specification. The smartphones will but naturally not be powerhouses but will definitely sport features like a front and rear camera, memory card slot and but of course, will be 4G enabled. Also the smartphone will have the VoLTE facility.

Additionally, the new Reliance Jio smartphones are also likely to come bundled with apps like Jio Wallet, making it easy for users to transact. it is unclear whether the smartphones will be GSM or CDMA based devices as the devices come bundled with Reliance Jio cards, Reliance might not want users to swap the telecom operators in the future. Reliance Jio’s sub Rs 1500 smartphones in the country could completely alter the way of the smartphone market in the country.

Looks like Reliance jIo is gearing up for a battle – and we the users, are more than ready!
